How to Use Twitter to Engage Your Supporters

Many nonprofit organizations question the value of Twitter believing that most of the hype centres around celebrities or banalities. What many mission driven organizations haven’t yet come to appreciate is the speed, ease and power of Twitter to connect with and build relationships with browsers, bloggers, journalists and other Twitter users. If you’re a Twitter skeptic, you’ll leave the workshop as a Twitter evangelist. You’ll learn how Twitter can increase your supporter base, attract website traffic, grow newsletter readership, recruit volunteers, reach donors, build your donor base, and build relationships with the media faster and easier than any other communications channel. Much more than a channel for broadcasting your news, Twitter is about establishing measurable objectives and participating in meaningful ways. You’ll discover the intricacies of successfully Tweeting, Mentioning, Replying, Retweeting, Following, Developing Lists, and using Hashtags. You’ll also learn about the top 10 Twitter applications nonprofit organizations are using to launch innovative and successful Twitter campaigns.

You'll learn to:

  • Set up a Twitter account – from branding your Twitter page to creating a compelling profile
  • Create hash tags to create timely buzz for your initiatives
  • Engage with existing and new audiences
  • Use Twitter as a listening tool and learn how and when to respond to tweets
  • Build relationships with the media
  • Monitor what’s being said about you and your industry
  • Manage and protect your reputation
  • Use Twitter as a research tool for developing new programs and services
  • Increase traffic to your website and other social media pages
  • Educate your stakeholders about issues that matter to your organization
  • Use Twitter to market your events – plus, how to create twitter-centric events
  • Improve your communication efforts with staff, volunteers and donors
  • Build a smart network by understanding who to follow and how to attract followers
  • How to tell your story in 140 characters or less
  • Buy Twitter ads and sponsored tweets
  • Discover new Twitter tools and resources
  • and much more...
